But yesterday it hit me, hard. I ripped open the pack of watercolor paper I’d ordered last week and tore one sheet into 8″x10″ and went at one with my Inktense colored pencils and a paint brush.

And this is what came out:

Yeah it’s a little lopsided…

But I woke up this morning finally realizing what these houses mean to me. I’ve been painting/drawing them since last year  (see: houses journal on flickr) and they keep popping up in my journal.

They’re usually the same shape. They always have one door and no windows. The door doesn’t have a doorknob.

I think you can guess what it means by now… but just in case. It’s feeling trapped. In a box. With no way out. No sense of what’s outside either. and just so you get an idea of how it’s situated on the page, there is nothing outside.

I guess I’ll leave it at that. In spite the kinda depressing meaning of what I painted yesterday, it felt good to make art. And I should do it more often…

When I met him in high school he played the guitar a lot, we were in a band together, and he later went on to do some electronica that sounded pretty sweet.

Then he decided to become a doctor. A traditional chinese medicine/acupuncture/herbalist kind of doctor. And he’s pretty good at it. Unfortunately (or whatever… life is life & that’s the way it goes sometimes), he left behind the music and composing that he was so enamored with before.

And now he wants it back. But the mojo’s just beyond reach.

What do you do when the creativity just doesn’t flow? And it hasn’t for months/years?

This bot was born when I was doodling during an online class. I made a couple of christmas-themed ones and I decided to draw some looove themed ones.

So I’m drawing  a series of 10 Valentine trading card size Art Cards. All will be different. All are a little twisted.

The real life cards are all glittery and stuff. The pens I’m using to color them in are Copic atYou Spica, and they’re amazing. Go get your own at JetPens. *if they had an affiliate program, I’d join, but they don’t….

Since one of my main purposes of this year is to finish up my UFO’s, I bound a book with covers that have been sitting in the corner collecting dust.

And I added it to my artfire shop.

I’ve also doodled daily. Not much to speak of, and definitely not something I really want to show off. Doodling helps me focus, especially while listening to audio programs or someone else talking. Every spare piece of paper on my desk is full of scribbles.

And I wrote. A lot. I finished up my eBook for my Thrive Creative Coaching biz, fixed up the landing page and hooked up MailChimp. I’m offering a free chapter from my eBook if you sign up for the mailing list.

Lots more writing than “art-ing” this week…
