Starred Items: Clear as Mud Edition

Victor-VictoriaThat’s it.

I’m no longer going to be a slave to Google Reader.

Today I cleared out all 231 feeds, and I will slowly add 50 of them back.

Once I reach 50 the only way to add another is to delete one.

Gotta clear out the digital clutter! The stuff used to think as merely interesting and informative has slowly taken over my life.

So I’m going to rely on Twitter for links in addition to the small number of blogs I’ll be following.

If you find something you think deserves attention, leave a comment or contact me.

On to the Starred Items!

This poem sums up my reasoning for getting rid of my Google Reader feeds: Too Much Information.

Why you’re undervaluing yourself and how to stop: I don’t know if men have as much of a problem with undervaluing themselves – but I somehow got it into my head growing up that I’m not all that important (which actually pisses me off to no end), that what I have to offer can’t be all that good, and no one could possibly want what I have.

Lately, however I’m getting over it..

I know everyone & their sister at this time of year is writing goal-oriented and year-in-review posts. So I’m going to be a lemming today and follow suit with two I liked this week.

AONC’s Annual Review: a glimpse into Chris Guillebeau’s annual review process.

Strategic Planning for Creatives: I like Lisa Sonora Beam’s approach to planning. A lot of what she’s discussing here is covered in her book The Creative Entrepreneur, and she has an online class teaching you just how to use and make your own Strategic Planner.

And…

If you’ve been living under a rock, James Chartrand of Men with Pens wears women’s underpants. It’s horrible that in today’s world she had to do this, but as a single mom, she did what was best for her family.

And here’s hoping her/his story will make those who hire freelancers think twice about underpaying ‘em.
